Examples of successfully implemented recycling solutions:
Origin and development
PDR was founded in 1993 as an association of European PU foam can manufacturers. The aim was to create a Germany-wide industry solution for the return and recycling of used PU foam cans. The basis for this is the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act (KrWG) and the Packaging Act (VerpackG), which classify used PU foam cans as hazardous waste and stipulate that they must be recycled. The industry solution has now been successfully established on the market for over 30 years. With its sophisticated process technology, PDR achieves a recycling rate of over 95%. The recovered products are returned to the production cycle.
PDR has been a European partner of Hewlett-Packard (HP Inc.) for the recycling of HP Inc. printer cartridges since 2002. These are sorted and separated according to type in order to guarantee a high level of purity of the recovered raw materials and products. In a multi-stage recycling process, PDR recovers precious metals, high-quality plastics and steel. We also achieve a recycling rate of over 95% in this area.
PDR's corporate principles
Our thoughts and actions are guided by the principle of sustainability. Responsibility for future generations is part of our corporate ethics. We are committed to the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN's 2030 Agenda.
As a company, we strive to continuously improve all operational processes. In line with this principle, our integrated management system is further developed in compliance with the legal framework and operational corporate goals are derived from this. To achieve our goals, we provide the necessary resources to improve our quality, environmental, energy and occupational health and safety performance and to make a sustainable, responsible contribution to society.
We actively contribute to resource conservation and climate protection with innovative environmental technology. To this end, we take environmental impact and energy efficiency into account when planning and carrying out our activities and when procuring products, systems and services.
The best possible fulfillment of customer requirements is the benchmark for the quality of our work. In this way, we create the basis for establishing further recycling solutions to enable a circular economy.
Our aim is to achieve high added value within the framework of an ecologically and socially oriented market economy.
Mutual trust in dealing with our employees, customers and shareholders is the source of our success. We achieve this through the will to perform, team spirit and respect in working together. We become aware of this fact anew every day.
