The German Packaging Act (VerpackG ) stipulates that used PU foam cans must be recycled. They are classified as hazardous waste and may not be disposed of in residual waste, yellow bags, tinplate or mixed construction waste containers.
Furthermore, the Packaging Act requires that retailers
- inform their customers about the proper disposal of empty PU foam cans at the time of purchase
- generally take back all used PU foam cans from their customers in the store (in the case of a sales area < 200 square meters, this only applies to PU foam cans that they themselves have in their product range).
Many local authorities also already support their residents in the proper disposal of assembly foam cans. A nationwide take-back of used PU foam cans is desirable in order to make it as easy as possible for consumers to return them.
Become a PDR recycling partner
Are you a tradesman, retailer or local authority and regularly return used PU foam cans to us for recycling? Then use this for your customer communication and advertise it! After all, the circular economy and resource conservation are becoming increasingly important for customers when making purchasing decisions.
