PDR-Tipp: Original-Kartons nutzen
Where can I dispose of hardened construction foam?
The cured PU foam is environmentally neutral and therefore harmless. It can be disposed of with the residual waste.
What kind of waste does construction foam go in? Is construction foam construction waste? Answer: Yes and no!
Yes!
You can simply dispose of hardened construction foam in the construction waste container or in residual waste. It is environmentally neutral and can be disposed of without any problems.
No!
Used PU foam cans are classified as hazardous waste due to their residual contents and also because of the pressurized gas packaging. In addition, their contents are far too good to throw away. They must therefore be disposed of as hazardous waste and should never be placed in the mixed construction waste container, the commercial waste container, the residual waste or the yellow bag!
Why doesn't construction foam belong in the yellow bag?
Used construction foam cans are classified as hazardous waste and are therefore not allowed in the yellow bag. Cured construction foam residues are not packaging and therefore do not belong there either.
Why should used PU foam cans be recycled at PDR?
Legislation classifies used PU foam cans as hazardous waste under waste legislation and stipulates that they must be recycled. They therefore do not belong in the residual waste, yellow bag, tinplate or mixed construction waste containers. You can find the legal basis here.
PDR offers the optimum solution. The European manufacturers of PU foam cans founded the company PDR - Products through Recycling in 1993. In Thurnau in Upper Franconia, PU foam cans collected throughout Germany, including the residual contents, are primarily recycled.
What does PDR do with PU foam cans?
PDR recycles used PU foam cans for high-quality recycling. More than 95% of the cans, including their residual contents, are recycled, around 80% of which is material. You can find out more about our recycling system here.
What is behind the letters PDR?
PDR stands for "products through recycling". We are the recycling specialist with 30 years of experience in PU chemistry and plastics and develop individual solutions for used products and production residues. With material recycling to new products! Information on our recyclable recovered products can be found here.
